3GPP 组织刚刚确定了关于非独立 5G NR 的相关硬件标准，其中包含了美国运营商 Sprint 所拥有的 2.5GHz 的频谱在内，而 Sprint 也表示将在 2019 年开始提供 5G 服务。

根据资料显示，Sprint 目前拥有超过 160MHz 的 2.5GHz 频谱资源，这是频率低于 6GHz 的状态下所能拥有的最大 5G 波段了，在 5G 的频谱资源上 Sprint 占有优势。Sprint 也表示在 5G 时代会聚焦在移动网络上，正在与高通、软银进行合作和开发。如果进展顺利，Sprint 预计会在 2019 年开始进行 5G 网络的商用，提供相应的网络以及终端设备。明年开始，Sprint 就为 5G 进行准备了，将会铺设大规模的 2.5GHz MIMO 无线电设备，拥有 64T64R（64 个发射器，64 个接收器），确保能升级到 5G NR。
